Shopmobility provides an important link in the transport chain and we address root causes of social and economic inequality for people with limited mobility and disabilities by providing mobility equipment to facilitate easy access in Enniskillen. The service is primarily helpful to local people who would like to get around their own town to go shopping, visit friends or family or simply get out of the house and be able to get out and about independently. The provision of equipment has many benefits for members and the wider community. It promotes social inclusion. The service also provides respite for carers, by using a mobility scooter, members feel a new sense of independence as they do not have to rely on family and friends to assist them with their mobility needs. Daily hire of the service is free to use and there is no cost for membership. Shopmobility Enniskillen currently has 646 members and this number grows each year.
