In December 2014 BART helped with the set up a Patient Liaison Group to get a better understanding of the patient’s perspective. The aim of the Patient Liaison Group is to further improve the patient experience and also help guide BART's future research studies. BART is based within the Primary Joint Unit (PJU) at Musgrave Park Hospital where since 1992 almost 25,000 primary hip and knee replacement and revision surgeries have been performed. This represents around 30% of all joint replacement and revision surgeries carried out in Northern Ireland in the same time period and makes it one of the largest joint replacement units in the UK.
