Age Concern Causeway provides a range of services for older people: * Active Age Programme - designed to promote active and healthy ageing, stimulating both body and mind through a programme of activities that are planned by consultation with older people themselves. * Advice and Advocacy - encompasses a number of areas: these include filling in benefit forms, signposting to ACC services or other services where appropriate, and acting as informal advocates for individual older people. A very important part of the services is visiting clients in their own home. * Befriending - volunteers visit and befriend clients at regular intervals of between one week and one month, depending on the client’s wishes. The main purpose of this service is to address isolation and loneliness among older vulnerable people. * Dementia Support Group - provides social day care support to 8-10 people with dementia per session * Mealtime Companions - supporting older people at mealtimes, especially those who are frail or suffering from dementia. A trained volunteer visits the hospital ward or supported living complex to help patients and clients manage their meals as well as providing short-term befriending. * Charity shop - acts as a hub for older people to call in and enquire about services, raising funds and volunteer development.
